Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has called on Kenyans to have hope in government regarding the implementation of development projects.
The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly said the implementation may take time before but with hope, the government will deliver on this mandate.
Ichung’wah was speaking at Soweto Catholic Church in Embakasi East where he accompanied President William Ruto for a Mass service.
His remarks come amid mounting criticism against the government over its failure to deliver on key campaign pledges, including easing the cost of living burden.
The development prompted Catholic bishops last week to launch scathing criticism against the government accusing it of fostering a "culture of lies."
But Ichung’wah said the President has been in office for only two years and was still working to deliver on his pledges.
The MP emphasised the importance of Kenyans to support government policy changes and urged those who are yet to embrace changes in the health sector to register with the Social Health Authority.
The legislator said that Kenyans don’t need to wait until they fall sick for them to confirm that SHA works.
“Mambo ya Social Health Authority, Mheshimiwa Rais niwaombe wakenya, sio mambo ya kungojea hadi siku unakuwa mgonjwa uone kwa macho ya kuwa SHIF inafanya kazi.”

The government introduced the Social Health Authority [SHA] which was launched on October 1, 2024, replacing the National Health Insurance Fund [NHIF].
SHA is mandated to manage the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), which offers enhanced health insurance coverage, a key component of the provision of universal health coverage.
Also accompanying the President for the Mass was Nairobi Governor Johnston Sakaja and a host of other leaders.
The government through the
Ministry of Health has urged Kenyans to register with the Social Health
Authority to ensure their medical expenses are fully catered for by SHIF.
According to the government, over 13.8 million Kenyans have so far registered with SHA.
The government hopes that all Kenyans – contributors and their dependants – will have registered by the end of the year.
