Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has said she is capable of convincing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to back Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s quest to win the presidency in 2027.

Ngilu said she has Raila’s ear due to their long political history and she is certain she can get him to back Kalonzo’s bid.

“He should dispatch me to Kisumu. We have come a long way with Raila. I will ask him to return the favour because we have supported him for a long time. He must support Kalonzo to be Kenya’s president,” she said.

Ngilu said she is a go-getter and does not look back once she sets her eyes on a prize.

“Yes, I can do it. People know that when I set out to do something, I do not look back at all. We will go full hog until we achieve our ultimate goal,” she said.

Ngilu was speaking in Kyondoni village, Kitui West constituency during the burial of Fredrick Nganda. MP Edith Nyenze, was also present.

She urged leaders backing Kalonzo’s intention to be president, including the clergy, to up their game by mobilising all eligible adults to acquire IDs cards to participate in voting.

“Those who are backing Kalonzo to be president, including MP Nyenze and the church, should stop engaging in empty talk and get the people to acquire IDs,” the former Kitui Central MP said.

“Once I make a comeback to the local scene, I will mobilise all people to acquire IDs. I will not shake hands with adults who will not have IDs. Please get IDs.”

Ngilu said she has announced her intention to recapture the Kitui gubernatorial seat during the 2027 election.
