A perimiter wall collapsed in Miritini, Jomvu, Mombasa County.

At least five people have died and three injured after a wall collapsed on them during a funeral meeting in Jomvu, Mombasa County.

Police report said the dead were four women and a man, while the injured were all women.

Police indicated that chief Binti Saidi Mwangolo reported that at around 2.30pm, a perimeter wall had collapsed within Miritini area

Police said a team of officers from Maganda Police Station, DCI Jomvu, and Aps Jomvu rushed to the scene where it was established that an old perimeter wall surrounding Kusco Company broke and fell on mourners who were attending a funeral.

Police said the wall collapsed as a result of heavy downpours experienced within the county. 

“The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting autopsy,” the police report reads.
