The vulnerable children could not hide their joy after the well-wishers led by students from Light International School not only made donations but also played games and had memorable interactions with them.
According to Paul Nalo, a career Master at Light International School, despite the fact that the children were needy, they have talents that could be tapped and harnessed to benefit their livelihoods.
Nalo noted that the initiative was organized to show love and empathy to the needy and as a way to celebrate the festive season early.
“Our interactions here have proved transformative, fostering empathy and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable members of the community. We decided to treat them to an early Christmas as a way of celebrating the festive season. We are all reminded of the need to exercise humanity during this season and even beyond,” stated Nalo.
He called on Kenyans of goodwill to endeavour to put a smile on the faces of those in need during the season by sharing the little they have.
“We are happy to have had a great bonding session with them and offered them gifts to make them feel honoured and loved,” a student said.
Through the visit and the donations, the learners expressed optimism that the children’s lives would change for the better, making them productive and responsible members of society.
They called on well-wishers to provide basic needs to destitute children, the majority of whom had lost their parents in their tender years.
The institution aims to instil a sense of responsibility and compassion in its students, shaping them into future leaders who are mindful of their communities.
“Our hearts are full of gratitude and we now have a renewed sense of purpose. Indeed, these small acts of kindness can make a big difference and we urge every Kenyan to show humanity to those in need,” a representative of the home told journalists.
