Kindiki is accompanied by Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii his Egeyo Marakwet counterpart Wisely Rotich and Fernandes Barasa of Kakamega
PSs Raymond Omollo, Peter Tum and Julius Bitok along with over 15 MPs are also present.
Races that are part of the event have kicked off and security is tight with over 2,000 police officers deployed to guard the venue.
Runners from over 15 nations are taking part in the race that has attracted over 10,000 athletes which has been rated at Gold Level by the World Athletics.
Patron of the race Farouk Kibet who is also President William Ruto’s aide is also present.
“We are pleased that the events are so far going on well and the weather is quite good,” said Kibet.
The high moment of the event will be the main races including senior men and women categories.
CEO of the event Barnabas Korir said they had complied with all the World Athletics requirements for the Gold Level event.
“We are ensuring that everything runs as per the World Athletics requirements," said Korir.
DP Kindiki is expected to address residents at the end of the events.
The race has been rated as Gold Level and will be part of the World Athletics series annually.
A technical team from the World Athletics led by Pauline Murumba camped at Chepsaita to audit the event and she said they were satisfied with all plans.
“So far so good. We are here because this is a Gold level cross-series international event which must meet all required standards," said Murumba.
Kennedy Tanui who is the competition director said they had registered 10,000 participants.
“It's the most beautiful course ever designed around. Chepsaita will be used for the world ranking and participating runners will earn points under the Gold level series rankings”, he said.
The race is also being used to raise funds to support over 1,000 students expected to get support for education.
“The proceeds will also be used to support other community projects including water projects”, said Korir.
