A bodaboda rider who shot to fame after endorsing President William Ruto for the presidential seat in 2022 was among the graduates during Kenyatta University’s 52nd graduation ceremony.

Calvince Ochieng commonly referred to as the “seconder” graduated with a Diploma in security science and management.

Ochieng came to the limelight on July 4, 2022, at the Bomas of Kenya when he accompanied Ruto for clearance by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Ochieng was then a bodaboda operator in Nairobi.

Speaking then, President Ruto described him as “a great friend who runs his small hustle around Kilimani and constantly gives us support in the UDA office whenever we need somebody to transport something.”

Calvince is a Boda Boda Rider who believed in President William Ruto, and he seconded Ruto's Presidential candidature.

"The Seconder, made history as a motorcycle rider by signing to second the candidacy of President William Ruto, then the UDA presidential candidate, in 2022. Hongera sana The Seconder,” UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar said after hosting him.

His journey, he said, stands as a testament to hard work, and the unyielding pursuit of education and success.

According to Omar, Ochieng’s story is one of pure resilience and determination, juggling between his engagement at the Hustler Plaza and lecture halls at Kenyatta University.

The party, he pointed out, supported him to pursue his career dreams.

Speaking when he hosted him after the graduation event, Omar challenged him to register for a degree course, promising him that the party would further support his endeavors.

“UDA is keen on supporting its staff in their pursuit to further their education and knowledge development,” said Omar.

Ochieng currently works at the UDA party headquarters.
