The visit by Kanja was part of the ongoing security assessment in various parts of the country.
During the tour, Kanja was also briefed by the military officers at the Manda Bay on the current situation of Operation Amani Boni.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has praised the
multi-agency security teams in the coastal region for their unwavering
commitment to securing the country.
Kanja particularly highlighted efforts of officers deployed
to the Lamu and Boni enclaves for their successful operations aimed at
preventing insurgence of al Shabab militants into the country.
He spoke when he visited the officers in various camps in
the region on Monday.
The police boss stressed that the rest of Kenyan cities are
safe because of the critical role played by security teams along the Kenyan
border stretching from Border Point 1 to 29.
He noted that their dedication and hard work, despite
working in very challenging situations, has been of great success to the
nation.
While addressing the press recently, Kanja said they will also utilise formed police units such as GSU, Anti-Stock Theft Unit, Border Patrol Unit and Rapid Deployment Unit to enhance security.
