In a significant diplomatic move, President William Ruto today hosted African Union Commission chairperson Moussa Faki for talks.
The meeting held at Ruto's Kilgoris home in Narok, saw the two leaders held discussions regarding key reforms within the African Union.
"We are implementing reforms at the African Union’s structure to make it more effective and efficient in pursuing the continent’s interests," said Ruto.

Ruto has been vocal about the reforms in the organ to ensure a more resilient Africa in the face of political, economic, and security issues.
The talks also focused on the upcoming election for the AUC chairperson.
It is slated for February 2025.
Kenyans candidated for the seat Raila Odinga who has Ruto's blessings, is vying for the position.
He will be battling it out against two other candidates: Mahmoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti and Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar.
During the meeting, Ruto is said to have sought the outgoing chairperson's support for Raila's candidacy, emphasising the importance of a leadership transition that aligns with Kenya’s vision for a stronger, more unified Africa.
Faki has completed his two terms in office.
For Raila to clinch the position, he needs two-thirds of the 55 countries that will vote but issues of geopolitics, language and religion by the member states will play a key role in who wins.
However, six members have been suspended because of either war or hostile takeovers in government.
These are Sudan, Gabon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger and Guinea.
This means Raila needs at least 33 votes to succeed Faki.
