Gachagua: Abductions a plot to silence critics
"Trying to scare Kenyans into silence will not work."
"I have not been able to have a meal because I am not at peace."
In Summary
The father of abducted Uthiru blogger Peter Muteti has issued an apology to anyone who
felt aggrieved by the conduct of his son on social media.
Muteti was abducted by unknown men who concealed their faces on
December 21 while at a shop in Uthiru, Nairobi County.
While making a passionate appeal to the government to help
solve the mystery surrounding his son's abduction, Barnabas Njeru said the
abduction of his son has traumatized him and his family at large.
"I was shocked on December 21 when I received the news
that my son had gone missing. I have since then been worried man,” he said.
“If the young man erred, then I apologise on his behalf. I also want to apologise to Kenyans," added the distraught father.
The National Police Service has denied involvement in the
alleged abduction.
Muteti's mother Doricate Njeru weighed in on the matter
saying the son’s disappearance has sparked anxiety in the family.
She says they have never known peace since his whereabouts became
unknown.
"I have not been able to have a meal because I am not at
peace. It has been tears since he went missing. I ask the government to help us
so that our son can be released," she pleaded.
On the day Muteti went missing, another blogger Billy Mwang
was picked by unknown people in Embu.
He was in a barber's shop when the abductors walked in, dragged
him out and bundled him into a waiting double-cabin pickup.
Others said to have gone missing are Bernard Kavuli, who
went missing in Nairobi, Steve Mbisi who was abducted in Machakos, Gideon Kibet
alias Kibet Bull who was abducted after a meeting with a senator and Ronny
Kiplang’at who went missing in Kiambu.
The abductions have sparked a massive uproar on social media
with Kenyans demanding their release.

82 people have been abducted since June this year with 29 yet to be traced.
In December, seven people were reported abducted.
