The ODM party has pledged to continue holding the government
accountable even as the country is set to usher in a new year.
ODM's Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen, who issued the New Year message, said the party will continue to stand firm in advocating for
policies and actions that will better the lives of Kenyans.
The Orange party further asked Kenyans to continue embracing
unity saying it is key to overcoming challenges facing the nation.
"As we look to 2025, we call upon all Kenyans to embrace
hope and unity. The challenges we face can only be overcome if we stand
together, putting the interests of the nation above all else," read the
message in part.
"ODM pledges to continue holding the government
accountable while offering pragmatic solutions to the issues affecting our
people."
While reflecting on the party’s scorecard for the year, Ong'wen
said they have remained true to the principles of democracy, social justice and
inclusivity that have over the years defined the party’s legacy.
The executive director said in 2024, ODM's grassroots
structures have been revitalized through recent elections, which allowed the
party to reconnect with its supporters and articulate their aspirations more
effectively.
"Whether in championing justice, fighting for electoral
reforms or defending devolution, we have remained steadfast in our resolve to
build a better Kenya,” he said.
"The role each of you plays, whether as a party member,
supporter citizen who believes in our values - is invaluable," the director
said.
The ODM party acknowledged the challenges facing the country
and reiterated its commitment to working tirelessly to ensure every Kenyan
lives a better life.
"Many Kenyans continue to grapple with the rising cost
of living, unemployment and inequalities. ODM remains committed to working
tirelessly to ensure every Kenyan has access to decent livelihoods, quality
healthcare and education," Ong'wen said.
He added:
"As we bid farewell to the year 2024 and usher in 2025, I extend warm greetings to you all ob behalf of the Orange Democratic Movement and our Interim party leader Prof Anyang Nyong'o. This year has been one of resilience, growth and renewed determination as we navigated challenges and celebrated victories together as a movement and as a nation," Ong'wen said.
