A man stabbed his wife to death and then killed himself following a domestic quarrel Wednesday night in Nandi county.
The incident happened at Kibaita village, Kemeloi location in Nandi South.
The man and the woman live in Nairobi but the woman had returned to her parents' home in the area where she was suddenly attacked by her husband.
The man is said to have called his wife outside in darkness and when she appeared he drew a knife and stabbed her severally killing her on the spot.
The assailant then took rat poison and also stabbed himself in the neck at the same home of her in-laws where he died.
Police are at the scene investigating the incident.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Jumuia Friends Kaimosi Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
The man was identified to be a resident of a village in Nandi central from where he travelled for over 5O kilometres to go and stage the attack.
The two left behind 3 children including a boy and two girls.
Residents said it was not clear what caused the attack at about midnight but the couple appeared to have been having domestic quarrels.
