The Deputy President said that it is not about being popular because there are many people who are popular but have no impact on anyone.

Kindiki noted that anyone can be popular because all they need is to talk to the people and convince them that they have good intentions just to con them.

He called on the political class to always rise above the tide and become good leaders.

“Above being a political leader, those of us who are politicians, must aspire above being politicians, we shall aspire being leaders in leadership. It's not about popularity. It's about transformation of society, impact and transformation.

“There are many people who can be popular for no good reason. They have not transformed nobody. They have not looked for any road. They have they have not helped get any water. They have not assisted but they are popular. And you know this is how humanity has been all along,” Kindiki said.

He spoke during a meeting with leaders and opinion shapers from Embu county, at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi.

The DP said that he is very clear in his mind that he is not looking for people to clap and cheer him but to impact lives.

He added that he prays that for the time that he will serve as the second in command, he will be able to account for every minute he represented the people in that capacity.

“Some of us are so clear in our mind, we are not looking for claps, we are not looking for excitement. We are not looking for popularity. We pray the time that God will give us in this office we will account for every day, every hour, every minute and every second,” Kindiki said.

He further noted that together with President William Ruto, they know a time is coming when they will have to answer for the work they have done.
