Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan
Bii has reshuffled his cabinet and sent on compulsory leave nine top officers
of the county.
Bii said he had sent
the affected officers on one month of compulsory leave having reviewed their
performance and the need to carry out a thorough staff appraisal to enhance
quality service delivery.
Governor Bii has
further reshuffled some of his executives in more measures he says are aimed at
improving service delivery.
In the changes, Elijah
Kosgey will now be executive for education having been moved from public
service while Dr Sam Kotut has been moved from environment to Agriculture.
Edward Sawe has been moved from agriculture to lands while Anthony Sitienei has been moved to water from education.
Bii has also appointed
Johnstonne Kotut as economic advisor and Dr Pius Kiplimo as Chief of staff.
Bii made the changes soon after a function at the county headquarters where he urged residents to ignore increased political propaganda in the region.
“Just ignore all those
things you are hearing and this year let us focus on work and work," said
Bii.
At the same time, Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea said the time for politics would come further lauding the governor for ignoring what he termed as "cheap politics".
“When the time comes for politics everyone will have a chance to explain what they have done. Come 2027 residents of Uasin Gishu will decide," said Kapkea.
Bii has been under pressure from residents to sack non-performing county officials but so far no one has been sent home.
