UDA has granted Mzee Isaya Eruwan Lokoel, a staunch supporter of the party, a Platinum Membership, which is the highest honour by the outfit.

Crowning him with UDA's highest membership rank at party headquarters in Nairobi on Wednesday, Secretary General Hassan Omar described Lokoel as steadfast in supporting the party and President William Ruto throughout his political journey to date.

"He is an inspiration to our party supporters not only in Turkana but the entire country as a whole," Omar said.

Lokoel hails from Turkana County.

The citation on his membership reads: "An indefatigable, dependable and ardent supporter of Party Leader His Excellency William Samoei Ruto. One of the longest serving members who has toiled alongside the Party Leader and members in the quest for a just and equitable Kenya with unparalleled devotion, commitment, and distinction. As a Party, it is with great pride that we honour him with a Platinum Membership. "

Omar congratulated Lokoel for his membership achievement and status. On Monday, Omar okayed the decision to open an office in Lodwar to serve its members in Turkana County.

Omar allowed the move after hosting a consultative meeting with a delegation of elected leaders from Turkana at the party’s headquarters.

National Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi and a delegation of MCAs led by Majority Leader Stephen Edukon and Minority Leader Vincent Muft attended the meeting.

“We welcome everyone on board because we are keen to make Turkana County a UDA zone. If the SG allows me, then we will open an office in Lodwar to coordinate party activities in the county,” said Nyakundi.

The delegation brought on board MCA’s elected on UDA, ODM, Jubilee and independents.

They declared their support for President William Ruto in 2027, stating he had made high-profile state appointments of members from their community in the government.

Edukon and Mufti thanked the President for appointing East Africa Community Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul, Shipping and Maritime Affairs Principal Secretary Geoffrey Kaituko, and several ambassadors, among other key state appointments.
