Police are investigating an incident in which a casual worker died after he fell from the second floor of a building under construction in Juja, Kiambu County.
Gibson Kamande, 35 was among almost a dozen workers at a construction site when he slid and fell from the upper floor.
Witnesses said he suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to Gatundu Level Five Hospital where was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was moved to the mortuary waiting for postmortem.
Such cases have been on the rise at construction sites amid calls on developers to prioritise workers’ safety.
Officials from the National Construction Authority, the police and county governments are investigating the incidents.
Elsewhere, police are investigating two separate cases of murder in Machakos and Homabay Counties.
In the first incident, a man aged 30 was stabbed and slashed to death in a fight at a meat joint in Syokimau, Machakos County.
A suspect was later arrested over the February 3 night tragedy.
The deceased rushed to a nearby bar and sat there while bleeding after he had been attacked and stabbed by an assailant in the fight.
He had a deep cut wound in the chest and left hand. He bled and died on the chair.
Police visited the scene and picked up the body to the mortuary. The suspected assailant was also arrested pending arraignment.
In Othoro, Homabay County, Kamwagi village, the body of Peter Okelo Odawo, 60 was found lying in his compound, police said.
The body had visible injuries and it was alleged that the deceased was slashing his compound when he was attacked by two people known to him.
The attackers escaped the scene. Police said they are pursuing the matter and efforts to trace and arrest the assailants are ongoing.
The motive of the attack was not immediately known.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
