President William Ruto co-chaired Saturday a joint summit of the East African Community (EAC) and Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) on the conflict in the DRC.

Several heads of the state and government from the countries within the blocs attended the meeting held in Tanzania.

DRC's Felix Tshisekedi, who had earlier confirmed his participation, skipped.

He was instead represented by her Prime Minister Judith Suminwa.

 In his address, Ruto reiterated his call for a ceasefire on the parties involved in the fights.
