Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has sent a strong warning to young people engaging in political violence in Homa Bay County, stressing that his office will take decisive action against perpetrators and sponsors.
His remarks come in response to rising incidents of violence reported across the county, including a recent altercation at a function he attended in Ndhiwa.
Omollo underscored the importance of empowering youth through education, allowing them to participate meaningfully in their communities instead of turning to violence.
The Principal Secretary remarked that those accountable for the political violence in Homa Bay will be held responsible.
He cautioned young people that they would face legal consequences if they were found engaging in unlawful activities.
Omollo also condemned the practice of young people carrying knives and resorting to violence over political differences, insisting that such behaviour must end.
Speaking at an empowerment program at Sasi Primary School in Ndhiwa, the PS made it clear that those responsible for political violence in the county would face the full force of the law.
He cautioned young people that they would face legal consequences if they were found engaging in unlawful activities.
Omollo encouraged young people to reject violence and seek peaceful ways to address political differences.
Additionally, the Interior Principal Secretary called for more support for students who did not qualify for university entry, urging leaders to assist them financially in enrolling in technical colleges and other institutions.
He noted that many of these students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and need support to pursue alternative educational paths.
"Leaders must pull together to ensure that these students are supported financially to gain admission to technical colleges and other institutions".
The Principal Secretary also urged families who have not yet registered for the new health scheme to do so, so they can benefit from its services.
