A section of political leaders particularly those allied to Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have been ejected from the leadership of key committees in the Senate Assembly.
Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang'wa and his Nyandarua counterpart Methu Muhia have both confirmed the purge.
Both senators alleged that the move served as a political retaliation for their political stand.
The senators are close political allies of Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua whose relationship with President William Ruto turned sour leading to his ouster from office by way of impeachment.
Nyandarua Senator Methu Muhia served as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources while his Kiambu chaired the Roads, Transport and Housing committee.
Methu reacted by expressing no regrets over the political direction he took.
''The political choice I have consciously made contributes to the stripping, but I bow out with absolutely no regrets,'' Senator Methu posted on his social media platforms on Thursday.
''It was such an honour to serve in the house leadership in that capacity.''
His Kiambu counterpart Karungo Wa Thang'wa on his part acknowledged he had anticipated the move to come sooner rather than later and vowed to march forward unbowed.
''I knew it would happen! I expected it! The purge has been effected. I take it like a man and vow to soldier on, unbowed,'' he said.
Both leaders, however, have expressed gratitude to President Ruto for the opportunity they were offered to serve.
''I thank William Samoei Ruto and his UDA party for allowing me to serve as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources and also as a member of the County Public Accounts Committee for the last two and a half years,'' Senator Methu stated.
The Kiambu Senator on his part thanked the UDA party and vowed to continue performing his senatorial duties.
