Public Health and Professional Standards PS Mary Muthoni has pledged to implore President William Ruto to undertake a development tour of Kirinyaga County.
Muthoni, after seeking a nod from residents during an event at Ngiriambu village, assured locals the President would soon be visiting.
“Do you want the President to come here,” she posed and thereafter asked residents to leave it to her.
“My assignment now is to ask leaders to come to Kirinyaga for development purposes because we do not have politics here.”
Muthoni asked residents to shun 2027 politics and instead focus on development.
“Let politics not derail us because what we want is development. The time for politics is 2027; that is when people will take on each other,” she stated.
The PS added that residents should be focusing on taking their children to school and putting money in their pockets.
“We want roads to be constructed and water piped to our homes. That is what we want. That is what we will do,” she maintained.
Ruto recently undertook development tours in western Kenya and the North Eastern region.
At the beginning of February, Ruto embarked on a week-long tour of the North Eastern region.
The president toured Mandera, Garissa, Wajir, Marsabit, and Isiolo counties.
During the visit, Ruto reiterated the government’s commitment
to transform the region by implementing key infrastructure projects.
A week earlier, Ruto spent five days in Western Kenya, launching development projects and engaging with residents.
The President's tour began with the launch of the first-ever sugarcane farmers' bonus at the Mumias Sugar company on Monday.
The Head of State issued Sh150 million in bonuses to the farmers as part of the Kenya Kwanza administration's initiative to revitalise the sugar industry.
The President also inspected the ongoing construction of the 220-unit Lurambi Affordable Housing Project and launched the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project.
The power project is expected to connect more than 35,000 households in Kakamega County to the grid.
He launched a similar project in Misikhu, Bungoma County, which will connect more than 28,000 households to electricity.
Reports indicate that the president is currently planning a tour of the areas around Mt Kenya region.
