Was a calm, collected leader - Gachagua pays tribute to late Malulu Injendi

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Malulu Injendi, the Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency.

In his heartfelt message on X, Gachagua described Injendi as a calm and collected leader who always had the best interests of his community at heart.

The former DP further highlighted Injendi’s strong religious values and his dedication to serving the people of Malava.

"The late Malulu Injendi, MP for Malava Constituency, was a calm and collected leader with community interests at heart. He was a deeply religious man," he said.

“His passing today has left a big gap in his family and the people of Malava Constituency."

Gachagua recalled his friendship with Injendi during their time in the 12th Parliament, expressing his grief over the MP’s demise.

"Injendi was my close friend when we served in the 12th parliament. I am saddened by his death; my deepest sympathies to his family and the people of Malava Constituency and the great people of Western Kenya Region. May his Soul Rest in eternal peace," he said.

MP Malulu died on Monday while undergoing treatment at Malulu at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.

Malulu was the Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency and Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research.

Injendi was serving his third term as an MP, having served continuously since 2013 (11th Parliament). 

Tributes have continued to pour in from fellow lawmakers, constituents, and leaders across the political divide.

President William Ruto described MP Malulu as a diligent, focused and devoted leader in his capacity at different levels of leadership.

"I am saddened by the death of a friend and colleague, Mheshimiwa Malulu Injendi. He was a towering leader who selflessly served the people of Malava Constituency. A believer in equal opportunities, Mheshimiwa was diligent, focused and devoted to public service," the President said on X.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi mourned the MP condoling with the family, friends, and the constituency of Injendi.

“Mhesh has rested. Go well, Malulu. My condolences to the family and his constituents.”

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale tweeted, "Hon. Injendi Malulu, a cool man. It is well."

The National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah mourned Malulu as a friend and colleague.
