The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will open the portal for the September university intake next month, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has announced.
In a statement, Ogamba said the opening is in line with the annual placement calendar.
A total of 246,391 students who sat for the 2024 KCSE examination and obtained a mean grade of C+ are eligible to transition to the universities.
The placement portal, he said, has been open since January 24, for students seeking to join the Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC), Teacher Training Colleges and Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions for the March and May 2025 intakes.
"We are steadfast in our commitment to providing quality and relevant education and training through a system that is inclusive, accessible and equitable and we will continue to work with all stakeholders in that regard," the CS said.
On Wednesday, February 26, KUCCPS reopened the portal for the KMTC applicants.
The portal was first opened on January 24 before it was closed on February 14, 2025.
KUCCPS said it seeks to fill 21 KMTC courses that still have slots for the March 2025 intake.
The portal, it said, will now remain open until March 4, 2025.
"All applicants who were not successful in the last application and others who would like to join KMTC in March 2025 are invited to apply," the notice reads.
KUCCPS was established in 2014 to coordinate the selection of students for enrolment in universities, teacher training colleges, national polytechnics, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutes and other training institutions.
The agency also develops career guidance programmes for the benefit of students, collects and retains data relating to student placement to universities and colleges and advises the government on matters relating to student placement.
To log in to the Student’s Portal, one needs to put their correct KCSE index number, KCSE examination year and a password.
The password is either the KCPE index number or the birth certificate number.
The login page (students.kuccps.net) is accessible via the KUCCPS website www.kuccps.net or the KUCCPS Students App.
