Wheels of Justice

The hearing of the murder case against rally driver Maxine Wahome is set to resume at the High Court in Nairobi today.

In March 2023, Maxine was charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Asad Khan.

It is alleged that on December 12 at Preston Apartments on Oloitoktok Road, she murdered Asad Khan.

She denied the charge before Justice Lilian Mutende.

Last time the matter was in court, a doctor from Avenue Hospital told a Nairobi court that rally driver Asad Khan died from multiple organ failure.

The failure, he said, was caused by excessive bleeding.

He said the wound on his leg could not be classified as a fatal injury "The injury on his leg wasn't the automatic cause of death but multiple organ failure,".

Asad died on December 19, 2022, while receiving treatment in hospital.

Asad's neighbour, who has since testified, said he was a man with a violent temper.

Chemutai Korir told trial Judge Lilian Mutende that his violent character was evident by how he treated his former girlfriends before hooking up with Maxine.

Assad lived above Chemutai at an apartment in Kileleshwa.

That morning at around 8 am, Chemutai explained to the court how she heard terrifying sounds that were coming from Assad's house.

"They sounded like heavy pounding on the floor. Assad was yelling and Maxine Wahome was crying," she said.

The hearing resumes today.
