ODM leaders from both the National Assembly and
counties say they are ready for any political decision on
the future the party leader Raila Odinga will declare.
National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed
said Raila is consulting with all ODM party organs over
the impending political declaration whether to work with
President William Ruto’s UDA party or the Orange party
takes a different political route.
Junet, who is also the MP for Suna East in Migori
county, said they take orders and instructions from their
party leader who is Raila.
He said every party must sit down and look at its strategic interest and as ODM, they would make decisions
according to their strategic interests and the wishes of
the party supporters.
He said ODM was created to seek political power, adding that the party is not a Non-Government organisation.
“ODM defends the rights of the citizens, opposes abductions, we opposed everything against citizens, but our
work and our main objective is to seek political power,”
he said, adding that nobody could force them take a
calibrated political direction.
Junet told supporters to remain firm assuring them
that nobody should threaten them as they would do as
per the decision of the party leader.
After the unsuccessful bid for the AUC seat, the ODM
party leader is currently working with Ruto in the broadbased government.
President Ruto had supported the ODM party leader
for the AUC quest during the just-concluded February
2025 election in Addis Ababa.
“We must thank Ruto for his support for Baba in the
campaign for the seat,” Governor Gladys Wanga said.
“If Baba (referring to ODM leader) says match left,
we go left. If he says match right, we go right; If he says
fire, we fire,” Governor Wanga who is also the National
ODM party chairperson said.
Kasipul MP Charles Ongondo Were also said they were
waiting for direction from the party leader who would
tell them where to go in the national politics.
“Tell Baba, the people of Kasipul constituency will
accept the decisions he will make,” the MP said.
The leaders were speaking in Oyugis Monday during
the launch of Kasipul constituency traders’ association
Sacco where they helped raise Sh2.6 million to help the
traders improve their businesses.
