King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are expected to arrive in the country ahead of the start of their state visit on Tuesday.

They will be in the country until Thursday.

The two who are in the country on an invitation by President William Ruto are accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Caspar Veldkamp, Reinette Klever (Foreign Trade) and Ruben Brekelmans (Defence).

Ruto was in the Netherlands in May 2023.

Kenya and the Netherlands have maintained close ties for more than 60 years.

Kalonzo Laikipia tour

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is scheduled to tour Laikipia County today to engage the residents.He is also set to open the Wiper party office in Nanyuki town.
JKIA service charter
Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir will today preside over the signing of the JKIA service charter and action matrix.
The charter aims to improve coordination, accountability, and efficiency at the airport, including measures to enhance passenger experience and streamline processes. 
It also outlines enhanced risk case profiling through advanced customer information systems.
Cabinet approved the operationalisation of the charter early last month.
A despatch stated that within 90 days, immigration booths at JKIA will be doubled, along with a corresponding increase in staff, to expedite passenger clearance and reduce overcrowding.

Additionally, electronic self-clearance gates (e-Gates) will be installed to facilitate faster and more efficient immigration processing.

Meru deputy Governor swearing-in

Meru Deputy Governor Isaac Mutuma is set to be sworn in today.

The event will be held at Mwendantu grounds.

In a judgment delivered on Friday, March 14, Justice Bahati Mwamuye ruled that the petition challenging her removal did not meet the legal threshold to overturn the Senate’s decision.

The judge affirmed that Mwangaza was accorded a fair hearing and dismissed her plea to invalidate the gazette notice confirming her removal.

“The court has assessed the totality of the impeachment process and found that she was given ample opportunity to present her case and respond to allegations levelled against her,” Justice Mwamuye said.
