Telecommunications giant Safaricom has kicked off the Safaricom Decode expo, at Sarit Centre.
Speaking during the event on Tuesday, CEO Peter Ndegwa said innovation is in the DNA of the network.
He stated that they have had a journey of resilience, collaboration and pushing boundaries.
This has been evident in the transformation of lives with M-Pesa to leveraging AI for smarter and more efficient solutions.
“As Safaricom marks 25 years of transforming lives, we reflect on key milestones like M-Pesa, which revolutionized financial inclusion globally, and innovations such as Fuliza and Lipa Mdogo Mdogo that continue to empower millions of Kenyans,” he said.
He noted that the achievements showcase the power of ingenuity and resilience, values that remain central to our transition from a Telco to a TechCo.
“This year, Safaricom Decode highlights the transformative role of AI in shaping the future of technology,” he said.
Ndegwa said AI is enabling smarter customer experiences through tools like Zuri, enhancing fraud detection, and creating personalized offers tailored to individual needs.
“By 2027, we anticipate unlocking $7 billion in new opportunities powered by AI while improving efficiency and productivity across the business,” he added.
The CEO said Safaricom Decode is a platform for sharing knowledge, celebrating engineering excellence, and sparking collaborations that inspire the next wave of groundbreaking solutions.
