Millicent Omanga showers Raila with praise as allies land state jobs

Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has praised former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, saying that one of his most admirable qualities is his commitment to rewarding those who stand with him.

In a statement, she said Raila understands that politics is a team effort and his ability to recognise loyalists among his teams sets him apart from other leaders.

The former senator said this trait has only strengthened the former Prime Minister’s inner circle and created deep loyalty among supporters over the years.

“One of the most admirable qualities of Baba Raila Odinga is his unwavering commitment to rewarding loyalty and standing by those who have stood with him. Over the years, he has built a formidable political movement, and whenever he gets an opportunity, he ensures that those who have been in the trenches with him are not forgotten," Omanga said.

“Baba understands that politics is a team effort. His ability to recognize and elevate his loyalists is a trait that sets him apart. Whether it’s appointments, endorsements, or political opportunities, he ensures that those who have sacrificed for the cause are acknowledged and given their due. This approach has not only strengthened his inner circle but has also fostered deep loyalty among his supporters."

She went on to describe Raila as a true nationalist who has always ensured inclusivity and balance regionally, gender-wise and in experience.

The ex-senator said this is evident when it comes to state, party positions or even business opportunities, and that the former PM has been consistent at this.

“What’s even more commendable is how he balances regional representation, gender, and experience in his decisions. Raila is a true nationalist, always striving to ensure that all communities feel included. His track record speaks for itself—whether in government roles, party positions, or even business opportunities, he ensures that key regions and groups are well represented. His emphasis on gender balance is also notable, as he consistently advocates for and supports women in leadership," she said.

Omanga insisted that Raila’s approach to leadership is refreshing and this, she said is a rare quality.

She added that Raila is a true leader who understands true friendship.

He values dedication, remembers those who have fought beside him, and ensures they reap the benefits when the moment is right. This rare quality is what continues to endear him to his supporters across the country," Omanga stated.

Her sentiments come a day after several of Raila's close allies landed state appointments in President William Ruto's reshuffle of the Principal Secretaries and envoys.

The changes followed the signing of an MoU between the ruling UDA and Raila's ODM party.
