New Basic Education PS Julius Bitok has pledged to deliver the desired results in early childhood, primary and secondary school education following his reassignment to the department.

Bitok made the promise when he officially assumed office following a smooth handover from his predecessor, Dr Belio Kipsang on Wednesday.

Bitok was reassigned to the State Department for Basic Education, swapping positions with Kipsang.

Kipsang, who had served in the position since 2022 under the Kenya Kwanza administration, was named the new PS for Immigration and Citizen Services to replace Bitok.

“I'm deeply honoured and grateful to President William Samoei Ruto for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading the State Department for Basic Education,” Bitok said.

He said the appointment is a profound privilege and a renewed call to serve the nation with unwavering commitment.

“I wholeheartedly embrace this opportunity to contribute to the transformation of our education sector, ensuring that every Kenyan child has access to quality learning,” he stated.

Bitok extended appreciation to Kipsang for his leadership and dedication in shaping Kenya's education landscape.

“His years of service have laid a strong foundation, and we will build on these achievements to drive further progress in alignment with the President’s vision for the sector,” he added.

Bitok emphasised that education is the cornerstone of national development, and committed to strengthening policies, enhancing learning outcomes and fostering an inclusive system that empowers learners.

“Together, with all stakeholders, we will work tirelessly to uphold the aspirations of our children and secure a brighter future for generations to come,” he said.

“I take on this role fully cognisant of the magnitude of the task ahead but with an unwavering commitment to deliver results that will impact the future of millions of our children. Let us move forward together in service to our great nation.”

Bitok was moved to the department in changes announced by President William Ruto on March 20, 2025 to enhance efficiency and aligning government functions with strategic priorities.
