Wetang’ula leads leaders in condoling with Elachi at home following son's death

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Wednesday led a host of other leaders in condoling with Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi at her home following the sudden death of her son Elvis Murakana Namenya on Tuesday.

Wetang’ula was accompanied with First Lady Rachael Ruto, wife of Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Mama Ida Odinga, and several MPs.

Wetang’ula while acknowledging that grief was deeply personal and could not be shared, said the presence of colleagues and friends offers some comfort, however small, “in this time of unimaginable sorrow that only time will heal.”

First Lady Rachael Ruto, while conveying the condolences of President William Ruto, urged Elachi to remain anchored in her faith and to lean on God’s embrace for strength and peace.

She prayed for the family to find solace in the days ahead.

Mama Ida Odinga offered words of encouragement, reminding Elachi that all is not lost, and that the cherished memories made with Elvis will forever live on.

Namenya will be laid to rest this Saturday.

On Tuesday, Ruto led leaders in mourning his death.

In his message of solace, Ruto asked God to grant Elachi and her family strength to bear with the loss of her son.

“Be comforted by the word of the Lord in Psalm 147: 3,” the President said. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Elachi's party ODM also condoled with her over the loss.

“May God grant Beatrice Elachi and family the fortitude and strength to overcome the pain of losing her son Elvis Murakana Namenya. It is such a huge loss to Mheshimiwa. As a party we stand with her during this difficult moment of mourning and grief."

Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo stated that her heart goes out to Elachi and her family following the tragic loss of their son.

“On behalf of my family and the people of Busia County, I extend my deepest condolences. Pole sana,” she said.

Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang said he was heartbroken to learn about the passing of Namenya.

“My deepest condolences to her and her family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.

Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai said it was with a heavy heart that he extends deepest condolences to Elachi and her family following the tragic loss of Namenya.
