The Institute for African Women in Law (IAWL) has recognised Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo among the 25 most inspiring women for 2025.
According to IAWL, Odhiambo’s leadership has been instrumental in restoring the integrity, influence, and stature of LSK.
It stated that as the second female president in the society’s history, she has reinforced her crucial role as a defender of justice, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.
She took over from Eric Theuri in an election held in March 2024, making her the 51st president.
It is through the various strategies to success, which include commitment to integrity and excellence, strategic advocacy and proactive leadership, and collaboration alongside continuous learning, that she was recognised.
These principles, it stated, have shaped her journey and impact in the legal profession.
“Throughout her career, she has faced numerous challenges but has remained steadfast in overcoming them,” reads a brief from IAWL.
Her approach, it noted, has been rooted in resilience, adaptability, and faith, along with strategic partnerships, evidence-based advocacy, and empowering others to build collective strength.
“She has remained true to her core values, ensuring justice, human rights, and the rule of law remain at the forefront of her work.”
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Odhiambo attributed her success to the lessons and experiences shared by other “phenomenal women” featured in the IAWL magazine.
“The reflections are not only depictive of excellence but also pose a challenge to every aspiring leader, regardless of gender, to exert their efforts to service that supersedes individual advancement or recognition,” she stated.
Sharing her insights on leadership, Odhiambo emphasises integrity, vision, and purpose.
This, while encouraging other young leaders to prioritise ethical leadership, invest in lifelong learning, build strong networks, embrace challenges, and advocate for positive change.
