The week saw President William Ruto spend a weeklong development tour in the Mt Kenya region.
This is even as the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga mourned his long-serving aide George Odour.
The week saw nurses under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme protest outside National Parliament.

Ruto’s Mt Kenya tour

President William Ruto held a five-day development tour in Mt Kenya.
He was warmly welcomed by crowds of people gathering to listen to him.
He interacted with the residents and danced to traditional tunes as he launched projects.
The President launched and commissioned different projects in counties across the regions.
He commissioned infrastructures and inspected affordable housing projects, among others.
The President was accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.




Raila mourns aide Oduor

Oduor died on Thursday evening at a Nairobi Hospital.
Leaders from across the political divide mourned him as a rock.
Raila described Oduor as someone who was always vigilant and extremely professional in discharging his duties.
The ODM leader said that he will dearly miss his bodyguard.

UHC nurses protest

Nurses contracted under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme protest outside the National Parliament on Monday.
The medics drawn from different Counties were peacefully protesting for the government to employ them on permanent and pensionable terms.


Wetang’ula meets Obasanjo

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula held an impromptu consultative engagement with the former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo on peace in the East African region.
The discussions centered on the ongoing mediation process between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Rwanda.
President
Obasanjo is one of three eminent African statesmen facilitating the ongoing
regional peace process.
