
A 24-year-old woman was found dead
after she allegedly jumped into a water pond in a suicide mission in Gatanga, Muranga
County.
Her body was found floating in the
pond after a suspected drowning and suicide.
Police officers visited the scene and
established that Lucy Wambui, 24, had jumped into the water in a suicide mission
on April 5.
A pair of red slippers and a cap were
found on the banks of the water pond.
She was last seen at Kaguku shopping
centre where she used to work as a casual labourer at a local hotel, police
said.
A suicide note was found at the scene
as the body was moved to Thika General Kago mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Two other cases of suicide were
reported in Sunton area and Kamkunji in Nairobi. They were both men, police
said of the April 7 incidents.
Cases of suicide have been on the
rise amid efforts to address the trend.
Police say the trend has been worrying and increasing, with up to two cases being reported daily.
Elsewhere in Kisumu’s Gita area, the
body of a woman was found on bed with the door open.
Police officers visited the scene and
found the body of Marcelline Atieno, 40, lying on the bed facing upwards with no
physical injuries.
It was alleged that she had been
unwell for some days.
The body was moved to the mortuary
awaiting autopsy.
In Kapsoya, Uasin Gishu County, a man
was found on the road in Sabasaba area.
Police visited the scene and found the body lying dead on the roadside with no physical injuries.
It was alleged that the deceased was
last seen walking along Munyaka Street.
The body was moved to the Moi
Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and
autopsy.
In Sengera, Nyamira County, a man
aged 35 was found dead after murder.
The incident happened in Nyamemiso
village and involved a man identified as Momanyi Duke.
The body was found on the road with
physical injuries on the neck and face, appearing swollen and oozing blood.
The motive of the murder was not
known.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
