Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday hosted a section of leaders from Turkana county at his private residence in Karen, Nairobi.
Gachagua said the agenda of the meeting was to deliberate on issues centred on resource management and the political direction of the county.
Gachagua said the discussions held by the leaders prioritised the needs and aspirations of the Turkana community emphasising the need for representation and inclusivity of the region and its interests.

“One of the key challenges we discussed is the crude oil extraction in the area and the benefits to the locals and Kenya as a whole. The complexities of natural resource management and the need for equitable benefits for the local populace are issues of deep concern,” Gachagua stated.
He said there was a need to listen to the residents as this could impact the economic and social fabric of the county.
“It is apparent that there is a desire for strong, representative leadership that prioritises the needs and aspirations of the community at the National arena. As they navigate the political landscape, the people of Turkana are seeking representation that truly reflects their interests,” he said.
