Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) CEO Ahmed Farah has announced his departure from the organisation, effective immediately.
Farah’s departure comes barely six months after he took up the role.
“I wish to officially announce my departure from the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) effective Friday, 18 April 2025,” he said in a statement.
According to Farah, his exit was a result of differences between himself and the KNCCI board of directors.
“As with many leadership journeys, moments of divergence can shape the way forward. In this case, differing perspectives between myself and the Board of Directors have brought my tenure to a close.”
He, however, noted that it has been an honour to serve in the role and to contribute to the advancement of the Chamber's strategic mandate.
He added that over the course of his tenure, he has also been privileged to work alongside a highly committed team, valued partners, and a broad network of stakeholders, all dedicated to enhancing Kenya's business landscape.
“I remain optimistic in the Chamber's potential in promoting a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive economy. With capable leadership and sustained collaboration, I am certain the institution will build upon its solid foundation and continue to deliver meaningful impact for the business community in the country,” Farah said.
Farah took over the role from Patrick Nyangweso, who had held the position since April 2023.
Farah holds a Master’s in International Development from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Commerce from Kenyatta University.
He previously served as Country Director of TradeMark Africa (TMA) Kenya.
