Police are investigating an incident where a man with a history of epilepsy was found drowned in a swamp area in Itoik village, Kericho.

The deceased was identified as Reuben Ngetich, 55 and was known to have a history of epilepsy.

It is suspected he was taking a shower in the area when he slipped into the water and drowned.

This is after suffering an attack of epilepsy, police said.

Police, however, said they are investigating the April 20 incident.

According to police, the body, which showed no visible injuries, was moved to the Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting an autopsy.

Meanwhile, three other people drowned in separate incidents reported to police.

The first incident happened in Kathonzweni, Makueni, where a two-year-old boy drowned in a small tank in their compound while playing with other children.

Police said he was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was moved to a mortuary in the area pending autopsy and other investigations.

In Kendu Bay, Homabay, one Gilbert Otieno, 31, drowned in Lake Victoria.

Police said the incident happened at Apida Karabondi beach.

His body was moved to the Gendia Adventist Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

In Endebess, Kwanza, Trans Nzoia, a five-year-old boy drowned in a water pan in a tragedy.

The boy had been playing with his friends when he went missing.

A search was mounted in the area before his body was found drowned in the water pan.

The pan is about 12 meters deep, officials said.

The body was moved to the local mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations, police said.

Police say cases of drowning have been on the rise, with some linked to heavy rains being experienced in the country.
