The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued its weather outlook for the period between April 29 to May 5, 2025, where it forecasted decreased rainfall in most parts of the country except for a few areas which will likely experience showers.

“Average daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C will prevail in the Coast, North-eastern, North-western Kenya, isolated areas of Western Kenya, and the South-eastern lowlands,” the department said in a statement.

“Average night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and around Mt. Kilimanjaro.”

Sunny intervals are expected in the Coastal region, including areas such as Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County during the period.

During the daytime, the South-eastern lowlands of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County, will also experience relatively sunny conditions.

However, morning, afternoon and night showers may occur over a few places.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley in the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi will see cloudy conditions in the morning with light rains over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals.

The weatherman forecasted sunny conditions in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley region in the morning.

The counties to be impacted include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties.

Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places occasionally spreading to several places.

In North-western Kenya in Turkana and Samburu Counties, Sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

However, there is a possibility of morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers occurring over a few places.
