Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has raised concern over a surge in homicide cases across the county, warning that the recent incidents are creating fear among residents and undermining public confidence in security.

In a statement on Friday, the governor said she was “deeply saddened” by the rising cases of homicide, noting that several disturbing incidents have been reported in recent weeks, including the killing of three young men in Machakos Town.
“As a mother and Governor, I am deeply saddened by the rising cases of homicide within the county,” Ndeti said. The leader added that no family should be forced to endure the pain of losing a loved one through violent crime. The governor extended condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of all the victims, describing the deaths as tragic and senseless. She said the county government stands in solidarity with affected families during what she termed a difficult moment of grief.
“No parent deserves to bury their child, and no family should endure the pain of losing a loved one through such senseless acts of violence,” she said.
Ndeti called on security agencies to urgently and comprehensively investigate all the reported incidents, urging them to ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted. She stressed that restoring public safety requires swift and decisive action from law enforcement agencies. The governor also reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to working closely with national security organs and local communities to enhance safety and restore public confidence. According to her, collaboration between stakeholders is key in addressing the emerging security concerns “As a county, we remain committed to working closely with security agencies and the community to safeguard lives and restore public confidence,” she said. The governor concluded her statement by expressing hope that peace and stability would be restored, and called for unity in addressing insecurity across the county. The statement comes amid growing public concern over security in parts of Machakos County, where residents have reported increased fear following a series of violent incidents.
Police officers who visited the scene found the body of an African male, believed to be aged between 45 and 50 years.
Police said this is the latest discovery of a body in the area as investigations continue.
