Most parts of the country will experience dry weather over the next 24 hours, although isolated rainfall is expected in parts of the Coast, Central Highlands and Rift Valley, the Kenya Meteorological Department has said.

In a daily weather forecast issued on Wednesday and valid from 9 pm on July 8 to 9 pm on July 9, the department said dry conditions will dominate across the country, with only a few counties expected to receive light showers.

According to the forecast, parts of Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Baringo, Narok, Kericho and Nakuru counties are likely to experience rainfall.

At the same time, the department warned of strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 metres per second) over parts of Garissa, Wajir, Marsabit and Turkana counties.

"Strong southerly to southeasterly winds of above 25 knots (12.5m/s) are expected over parts of Garissa, Wajir, Marsabit and Turkana counties," the department said in the advisory.

The weather outlook shows that coastal counties such as Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu are expected to receive light showers overnight and in the morning before giving way to sunny intervals later in the day.

Most counties in the eastern, central and northern parts of the country, including Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Meru, Embu, Kitui, Machakos and Makueni, are expected to remain partly cloudy at night before experiencing sunny intervals during the day.

Maximum daytime temperatures are forecast to range from 23 degrees Celsius in Nyandarua to 34 degrees Celsius in Mandera, while minimum temperatures will vary between 10 degrees Celsius in Nyandarua and 24 degrees Celsius in Mandera and Lamu.

The department regularly issues daily forecasts to support planning by the public, farmers, transport operators and disaster management agencies.

Residents in areas expected to experience strong winds have been advised to remain vigilant, as such conditions can affect road transport, increase dust in arid regions and pose risks to temporary structures and outdoor activities.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans to continue monitoring its official weather updates for the latest forecasts and advisories as weather conditions change.

The department said the changing weather pattern underscores the varied climatic conditions expected across the country during the period, with dry weather remaining the dominant feature despite isolated rainfall in some regions.
