In Summary

  • • A Raila relative read the riot act to a young handler who shamelessly said  after Azimo la Umoja that he can defeat his boss. Raila has enough useless hangers on.
  • • A vocal Orange Party MP and Nairobi MCA nearly came to blows when the MCA called the MP cheap at a church fundraiser for only contributing Sh100,000.

A governor hopeful from Nyanza is a disturbed man following what his associates call a series of attacks on his campaign entourage. The politician with deep pockets was recently accosted by irate youths backing one of his rivals in the race and robbed of Sh390,000 cash. The youths blocked the man’s car and forcefully took the money as he watched helplessly. The governor aspirant was going about his way selling his bid when he was waylaid. These events show how much IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s (pictured) work is cut out for him.

Talking of rivalry, a vocal Orange party MP  and an MCA in Nairobi have taken their competition to unprecedented levels. Last week, police officers were forced to swing into action after the two leaders nearly came to blows at a church event where they had been invited for a fundraiser. The melee started when the MCA criticised the MP for contributing only Sh100,000 yet he was the chief guest. He threw an insult at the legislator, calling him a mean politician who does not care about his constituents. The insults angered the MP who shot up in anger and went for the MCA's jugular, but orderlies intervened before the situation got out of hand.

Handlers of an ODM governor in Nyanza had the shock of their lives last Friday after the Azimio la Umoja event at Kasarani. As guests retreated to the after-party, one of the governor's handlers started to badmouth a youthful and popular governor aspirant seeking to unseat his boss. But before he could finish his rant, one of Raila Odinga’s family members shouted to high heaven, dismissing  the handler’s assertion that his boss was irreplaceable. The Odinga relative was categorical that this time around, no one will hang on the ex-PM’s coattails for a free ticket. The relative insisted the ODM boss needs no more political baggage.

An aspirant from a constituency in Kisii county who joined the ODM party recently is in hot soup for putting the party in disrepute. Our moles from the party headquarters indicate that the party is considering summoning the aspirant to appear before its disciplinary committee and be disqualified as a party member. The aspirant has been going round in the constituency saying that he had 'sorted' the ODM leader with some handsome token and has already gotten a direct nomination for the seat. Our moles on the ground will update us.
