Fake digital Card

A digital card going viral on social media claiming that Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has warned Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua against supporting Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka is FAKE.

The digital card also warned the Kikuyu community against forming partnerships with the Wiper leader.

The card used the Star Kenya logos, symbols and colours; ostensibly to create an impression that it was a true version of the Star digital content.

"Kikuyus do not trust mkambas, Gachagua should be careful in his support for Kalonzo," read the fake message on the digital card.

The Star social media desk which is responsible for developing digital cards has flagged the card as fake and denied creating such a card.

"Such content cannot pass the editorial standard of the Star as it borders on hate speech and incitement. We urge our readers to disregard it with the contempt it deserves," the Star social media executive Tracy Mutinda told the Factchecker desk.

Mutinda at the same time asked the Star readers to verify the social media content they suspect could be malicious and created with Star brand elements by scanning through the Star Kenya verified pages on Facebook and Twitter.

"They can also reach us via WhatsApp: +254727422422 for verification on the same," Mutinda added.

The Star Factchecker has debunked the viral digital card and therefore concludes that it is Fake and should be disregarded.
