    Drugs and substance abuse prevalent across Kenya

    The production, cultivation, possession, trafficking, distribution and consumption of cannabis are criminal offences under Kenyan law.

    Key informants reported that most of the cannabis trafficked and consumed in Kenya is largely from foreign countries such as Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and South Africa, amongst others.

    The government recognises drugs and substance abuse as major threats to the wellbeing of its citizens and national development.
