STAR INGOFRAPHICS
A survey by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) highlights critical challenges impacting agricultural production in Kenya. Transport costs, pests and diseases, and input prices (e.g., seeds and fertilizer) remain top concerns for farmers, affecting over 90% of respondents in both September and November 2024 surveys.
Weather conditions also saw increased impact, rising from 61% to 73%.
Labour costs, land preparation, and technology adoption pose additional hurdles, limiting productivity.
Despite slight improvements in market demand, issues like land size and persistent pests continue to hinder progress.
