THE STAR INFOGRAPHIC
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive sweating, even when it's not hot or you're not exercising.
It can affect your whole body or just certain areas, like your armpits, palms, or feet.
There are two types of hyperhidrosis: Primary (focal) hyperhidrosis: This is the most common type and is not caused by any other medical condition.
It usually affects specific areas like the hands, feet, underarms, or face.
Secondary (generalized) hyperhidrosis: This type is often a result of an underlying health condition, such as infections, hormonal changes, obesity, diabetes, or medications.
