In Summary

The 2024 National Tuberculosis Status Report by the Ministry of Health reveals significant gender and age disparities in TB cases across Kenya.

According to the data, males are more affected by tuberculosis than females in almost every age group.

The highest burden falls on men aged 25-34, with 13,189 reported cases, while the corresponding figure for women is 7,308.

The 35-44 age group also shows a high prevalence, with 14,023 cases among men compared to 6,712 cases in women.

Interestingly, TB cases among children aged 0-4 are almost equal between genders.

The data highlights the need for targeted interventions focusing on the most vulnerable demographics, particularly men in their prime working years.
