President-elect William Ruto on Tuesday committed to strengthening Kenya's ties with Serbia.
He hosted Serbia envoy which was led by Ambassador Dragan Zupanjevac at his Karen office.
"We welcome Serbia’s strong desire to work with our administration. We commit to strengthen our ties and step up areas of cooperation such as agriculture, Information Technology and healthcare," he tweeted.
Zupanjevac delivered a congratulatory message to Ruto for being elected Kenya's fifth President-elect even as Raila Odinga (Azimio) petitioned his win.
Ruto took to his social media accounts to thank Serbia for its goodwill.
"Appreciate a message of goodwill from Serbia that was delivered by Ambassador Dragan Zupanjevac."
Ruto was declared the President-elect on August 15 after polling 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49 per cent of the valid votes.
Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga came in second with 6,942,930 votes which is 48.85 per cent of the total votes.
On Monday, Raila filed a petition challenging the presidential election results at the Supreme Court.
The case will be decided by a seven-judge bench.
They include Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy CJ Philomena Mwilu and judges Ibrahim Mohammed, Smokin Wanjala, Njoki Ndung'u, Isaac Lenaola and William Ouko.
