President William Ruto on Thursday attened the Annual Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Fair in Baringo county.
Also present at the event was Baringo Senator William Cheptumo,
The auction was initiated by former President Daniel Arap Moi.
Cheptumo said that the auction will help parents take their children to school in January and bring food for the people of Baringo.
He said Baringo is 65 per cent semi-arid and urged the President to build dams in the area to cushion residents from water deficiency.
The Senator also requested Ruto to wave their coffee loans to support coffee farming in the region.
The President noted that the people of Baringo were united and urged them to keep the unity
"Ahsanteni Baringo kwa kuungana.Hio ndio Kenya ambayo sote tunataka tukae ndani; Kenya yenye haina mipaka ya dini, kabila ama rangi," Ruto said.
He promised his support and commitment to build Baringo into a great county.
Ruto said there are plans to build dams in the area for the benefit of the people and livestock.
