Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action CS Aisha Jumwa on Wednesday met the anti-FGM board chairperson Ipato Surum and CEO Bernadette Loloju.

Jumwa said she was pleased that FGM prevalence has reduced from 21 per cent to 15 per cent as per the survey carried out recently by the Kenya Demographics and Health Survey 2022.

 "We discussed a number of issues among them the programmes we have in place to end FGM in Kenya," the CS said. 

She said her ministry will remain committed to eradicating FGM and promoting the rights of girls in Kenya. 

Also present in the meeting was State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action PS Veronica Nduva.
