The Ministry of Health has reiterated the government's commitment to attain Universal Health Coverage and ensure access to healthcare for all Kenyans.

The PS State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards Josephine Mburu on Friday acknowledged that achieving this goal will require working with all partners.

Mburu spoke when she met the Health Director of USAID Kenya, John Kuenhle at Afya House.

Key on the agenda was to discuss strategies for strengthening preventive, promotive, and community health services as key drivers for UHC.

“The government and development partners are working together towards achieving Universal Health Coverage through concerted efforts,” the PS said.

USAID has been a key player in the Kenyan health sector, committing approximately Sh31 billion towards the prevention and control of HIV and Malaria, promotion of child and maternal health, and Global Health Security.

USAID has worked closely with the Kenyan government and the private sector for more than 60 years to among others advance access to education and improve quality healthcare through nutrition, family planning, maternal and child health, malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and strengthening healthcare systems.

USAID also helps partner countries plan, finance, and deliver safe water and sanitation services for the neediest, while sustainably managing water resources.
