The High Court will today issue new directions in a case in which Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu challenged a petition seeking her removal from office.

Petitioners, among them former Law Society of Kenya president Nelson Havi, want Mwilu, Chief Justice Martha Koome and all the other Supreme Court judges removed from office over performance.

The judges have responded by moving to court to block the hearing of the said petitions by the Judicial Service Commission citing lack of jurisdiction.

The High Court has already issued orders stopping the commission from hearing the petitions pending further directions.

Justice Lawrence Mugambi extended the orders to March 28 when he will hear an application seeking an expanded bench to hear the judges' case.

The judges whose cases are before Mugambi are Chief Justice Martha Koome, Justices Smokin Wanjala, Njoki Ndung'u, Isaac Lenaola and William Ouko.

Today, Mwilu's case, which is also similar in nature,e could be consolidated with the other files.

The matter is coming up before Justice Bahati Mwamuye.
