The third cohort of 12 African women leaders selected to join the Amujae Initiative, a flagship programme under the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (EJS) Presidential Center for Women and Development has been unveiled.

They include serving government ministers, MPs, senior government advisors and activists engaged with issues ranging from economic development to gender equality and youth empowerment.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga is part of the group.

EJS was founded in 2018 by then Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the first democratically elected woman President in Africa.

The initiative launched in 2022 seeks to inspire and prepare the women to take up roles and excel in the highest echelons of public leadership.

Kirinyaga Governor Ann was among the women in the second cohort.
