Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has made appointments of councils of various public universities in the country.
In a Monday gazette notice, Machogu said the appointments will be for a period of three years.
The appointments took effect from Tuesday.
For Chuka University, Machogu appointed David Serrem as the chairperson of the council.
"I appoint Professor David T. K. Serrem as the Chairperson of the Council of the Chuka University for a period of three years, with effect from May 23, 2023," Machogu said.
Serrem was appointed alongside Crispus Micheni Ndeke, Linet Kwamboka Maganda, Samuel Gacheru Gitonga, Zephania Rwanda Mbaka and Margaret Makhungu as members of the council.
In Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, the CS appointed new council members for a period of three years.
New JOOUST council members are David Moranga Oyugi, Joan Atieno Odawa, Ambeyi Ligavo and Isaac Kiprop Chebon.
The new council members for Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology are John H. Nderitu, Hassan Abdi Mohammed, Joel Yego, Angeline Nduku Kioko and Velma Mudasa.
The Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology got a new council Chairperson and members.
" In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints under paragraph (a)–Emmanuel Mutisya as Chairperson of the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, for a period of three years," Machogu said.
Mutisya was appointed alongside Washington O. Yotto, Collins K. Tanui, Meshak Kidenda and Purity Mureithi as members of the Council.
At Kisii University, Machogu appointed Sara Ruto as the new council chair alongside Samson Mucheluleas as the new council member.
The CS revoked the appointment of Irene Caroline Chizupo from the Kisii University Council.
Machogu also revoked the appointment of Margaret Maimba from the Laikipia University Council.
In the same University, he appointed Charles Anyanga Malalah, Paul Bore, Marie Wanjeri Mugo and Sereya Beatrice Maitoyo as members.
At Masai Mara University, Machogu appointed Dickson Malanga Shikanga, Peter Ole Nkuraiya, Susan Chebet and Elizabeth Ayoo as new council members.
Machogu revoked the appointment of Lucy Kiria from the Masai Mara University Council.
The CS appointed Naftali Omolo Ongati to serve as Chairperson of the Maseno Universiy Council.
He appointed Matilda Chemutai Sang, Darius Getanda Isaboke and Ponyochi Kunyobo as Maseno University Council members.
Masinde Muliro University Council also got a new Chairperson.
Pamela Sitienei was appointed Chairperson alongside Grace Wanja Kimotho, Kennedy Ochieng Olungo, Dorothy Kimeu, George Akolo Lutomia and Susan Nyaboke Nyasinga as council members.
Jacqueline Muthoni Mwangi's appointment was revoked by Masinde Muliro's Council.
Mohamed Salim Badamana was appointed the new Chairperson of Pwani University Council
Council members of Pwani University will be Benjamin Mweri, Sang Kiptanui David, Samuel Kaloki and Fatma Mohammed.
"The appointments of Samuel Ocholla, Renee Agnes Muthoni Kariuki, Nyachae Samuel, Bernard Iria and Noor Dahir Yusuf are revoked," Machogu said.
South Eastern Kenya University got Esther Wanjiru Ndirangu as a new member of the Council.
Machogu also revoked the appointment of Harriet Chiggai from the council.
Technical University of Mombasa's new council members are Mohamed Loo, Alison Kariuki, Paul Mwasaaru Mwazumbo, Grace Nekoye Katasi and Asma Hadi Awadh.
The appointment of Anne Sabania was revoked by TUM's council.
The new Chairperson of Turkana University College is Peter Salim Ndemo.
New council members are Nelisa Kagendo Mbaka, Jared Oyier, Shadrack Kemoi Lomuywara, Dominic Kimutai Biwott and Carolyne Ekwom,
"The appointment of Anastacia W. Kamau is revoked," Machogu said.
Additionally, Machogu appointed Amukowa Anangwe as the new chairperson of the University of Nairobi Council.
The CS appointed Ahmed Sheikh Abdullai, Darmain ole Warkae, Caren Kerubo Omwenga and Sally Ngeringwony Toroitich as members of the Council of UoN.
"Gazette Notice Numbers 8074, 8075 and 9959 of 2022 are revoked," Machogu said.
